Zelensky Open to Meeting Putin, Conditions Set for Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but under specific conditions. Zelensky stated that he is open to discussions anywhere except Moscow, which he regards as the capital of an aggressor nation.

This statement comes in response to earlier remarks by Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, who indicated that Zelensky should reach out to Moscow if he wishes to arrange a meeting. Ushakov claimed that Putin is prepared to meet and that such a meeting could be organized.

In a broader context, the situation between Ukraine and Russia has seen some developments recently. The two nations, with mediation from the United States, have reached a temporary three-day ceasefire, as announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. This ceasefire is set to last from the 9th to the 11th of the month, with Trump suggesting that it may extend beyond this initial timeframe.

However, peace negotiations have largely stalled since February, when U.S. military operations against Iran shifted the focus of the Trump administration. Despite this, President Zelensky remains hopeful that negotiations regarding Ukraine could resume by late spring or early summer.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has acknowledged U.S. efforts to expedite the negotiation process. However, he emphasized that achieving a resolution to the ongoing conflict remains a complex challenge, suggesting that reaching a peaceful agreement will require significant time and effort.

Ukrainian President Zelensky is willing to meet with President Putin, but not in Moscow, amid a temporary ceasefire and stalled peace negotiations. The situation remains complex as both sides navigate the potential for renewed dialogue.
