Ukrainian Security Service Targets Russian Military Assets in Crimea

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has executed a significant operation in occupied Crimea, successfully striking multiple military targets, including three naval vessels and a fighter jet. This operation, carried out by the elite Alpha unit, utilized drones to achieve its objectives.

Key targets included the naval base in Sevastopol and the Belbek military airfield. According to the SBU, the strikes resulted in damage to:

  • large landing ships “Yamal” and “Filchenkov”
  • the reconnaissance ship “Ivan Khurs”
  • a MiG-31 aircraft at the Belbek airfield
  • the technical maintenance unit of the airfield

Additionally, the operation impacted the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s training center “Lukomka,” the headquarters for radio technical intelligence, and the radar station “Cape M1.” Footage of the successful operation has been obtained by RBC-Ukraine from its sources.

According to Yevgeny Khmara, acting head of the SBU, each operation is aimed at systematically dismantling critical components of the enemy’s military infrastructure. He stated, “This not only results in direct equipment losses but also undermines the enemy’s ability to control the area, protect their forces, and plan new attacks. This work will continue until Russia ceases its aggression.”

In related developments, on April 23, SBU drones effectively targeted a oil pumping station in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia, leading to a significant fire that engulfed three oil tanks. On April 22, Ukrainian drone forces destroyed a base used by the FSB special unit, eliminating a command post and the enemy’s deployment site, resulting in the loss of 27 Russian special forces personnel.

Furthermore, on the night of April 26, a series of powerful explosions were reported in occupied Sevastopol. Eyewitnesses indicated that large fires erupted in the vicinity of the seaport and a local oil depot, despite claims from occupying authorities that all aerial targets had been intercepted.

The SBU's recent operation in Crimea targeted key Russian military assets, signaling a strategic effort to weaken enemy capabilities. The attack underscores Ukraine's ongoing commitment to countering Russian aggression through targeted strikes.
