Ukrainian Forces Target Strategic Sites in Russia Amid Ongoing Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that Ukrainian defense forces have successfully struck strategic targets in Russia, including a major oil terminal in St. Petersburg and military facilities in Kronstadt and the Tambov region. This announcement was made via a Telegram post from the president.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of receiving updates regarding the acquisition of Patriot air defense systems, which is a key point of discussion at the highest political levels.

In a related development, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is visiting Kyiv, accompanied by representatives from all 32 member states of the Alliance. During a press conference, Zelensky stated that six countries have committed to contributing to the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund (PURL) and warned that delays in payment for the Patriot systems could result in a delivery timeline extending to 2030.

Ukraine is reportedly allocating between $45 billion and $50 billion annually for weapons production, as stated by Zelensky. Rutte also cautioned young Russians against participating in the war, indicating they would be left to face dire consequences.

Since the onset of the conflict in the Middle East, Ukraine has received significantly fewer PAC-3 missiles than promised, according to Zelensky. Rutte assured that the supply of PAC-3 interceptors continues on a daily and weekly basis.

Furthermore, Ukraine plans to send experts to the Baltic states and Romania to share experiences in countering drone threats. Zelensky also noted that Ukraine aims to enhance its responses to Russian attacks and confirmed his participation in the upcoming NATO summit.

On the battlefield, the General Staff reported 83 clashes since the start of the day, with the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions remaining the most active. In May, Ukrainian forces intercepted over 5,000 aerial targets, a figure significantly higher than that of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.

Ukrainian forces have also targeted naval vessels and infrastructure in the Russian port of Kronstadt, as well as a munitions depot and command post in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Reports indicate that drones attacked Russia’s largest oil terminal in St. Petersburg and a facility in the Tambov region that produces equipment for aviation and missile systems.

In a separate incident, the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Russia was struck by a Neptune missile, according to the Ukrainian Navy. Military analyst Oleksiy Hetman noted that the frontline has stabilized, with Ukrainian defense forces maintaining tactical initiative.

Ukrainian military leadership is actively assessing air defense operations in the southern regions, while the Ministry of Defense has approved the use of a modified ground logistics-evacuation robotic complex.

As for the impact of the ongoing conflict, reports indicate that Russian forces have recently attacked various civilian targets, including a farm in the Kharkiv region, resulting in casualties. Additionally, the use of prohibited phosphorus munitions has been reported in Kostiantynivka, while drone strikes in Kharkiv have left several injured.

In energy news, a blackout occurred at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant due to a disconnection of power lines following a drone attack. New power outages have been reported across several regions, including Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia.

As the conflict continues, Ukraine has increased its electricity exports significantly, reflecting ongoing efforts to bolster its energy sector.

Ukrainian forces have targeted strategic sites in Russia, including an oil terminal in St. Petersburg, while President Zelensky discusses military support and defense strategies with NATO officials. The conflict remains active, with ongoing clashes reported on the frontlines.
