In a significant military operation, Ukrainian defense units struck four major oil facilities in Russia during the night of April 18. This action is part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to diminish Russia’s military-economic capabilities amid the ongoing conflict.
The targeted facilities include:
- The Novokuybyshevsk and Syzran oil refineries located in the Samara region of Russia;
- The RPK-Visotsk oil terminal operated by Lukoil in the Leningrad region;
- The Tikhoretsk oil pumping station situated in the Krasnodar region.
These facilities play a crucial role in supplying fuel to the Russian armed forces. As a result of the drone strikes, fires have erupted at these sites, although the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
In addition to these strikes, Ukrainian forces also targeted several storage locations for fuel and lubricants in territories temporarily occupied by Russian forces, particularly around Mariupol. Furthermore, Ukrainian troops conducted strikes on repair units located in the settlements of Mangush, Tokmak, and Grafskoye, all of which are under Russian control.
Ukrainian defense forces executed targeted strikes on key oil facilities in Russia, aiming to weaken the military supply chain for Russian forces. The operation also included attacks on fuel storage sites in occupied territories, highlighting the ongoing conflict's strategic dimensions.
