Ukrainian military units have successfully established fire control over the Donetsk airport, effectively blocking a Russian logistical hub used for launching Shahed drones. This development was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement from the 1st Separate Center for Drone Operations.
The Donetsk airport, previously transformed by Russian forces into a military logistics center, has become a critical site for drone launches. Ukrainian drone operators systematically targeted enemy infrastructure, rendering the airport’s operations unfeasible.
Ukrainian defenders destroyed launch systems, transport vehicles, and eliminated enemy personnel directly on the runway. Officer Serafim “Falco” Hordienko, responsible for planning the operation, described this effort as an asymmetric operation that disrupted the enemy’s operational and strategic plans with minimal forces.
In addition to targeting drone launch sites, Ukrainian forces struck engineering equipment, fuel supply vehicles, and construction cranes, significantly degrading the operational capabilities of the Russian forces at the airport.
“Not long ago, the occupiers felt secure here and planned terrorist attacks on our cities. Now, we have turned Donetsk airport into a trap for the enemy. There is no safe rear for the occupiers. Hiding and defending themselves is impossible,” the statement from the 1st Separate Center emphasized.
Ukrainian forces have taken significant steps to disrupt Russian drone operations by gaining control over the Donetsk airport. This strategic move has rendered the airport's functionality impossible for enemy forces, effectively transforming it into a zone of vulnerability for the occupiers.
