Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Russian Oil Pumping Stations

On June 10, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported successful drone strikes on two oil pumping stations in Russia’s Vladimir region, approximately 700 kilometers from Ukraine. The targeted facilities, known as “Vtorovo” and “Lobkovo,” are crucial for the transportation of diesel fuel to the Moscow Ring Oil Product Pipeline and for exporting oil products to Baltic Sea ports, including the Primorsk oil terminal.

The SBU stated that local authorities confirmed fires at the infrastructure sites following the drone attacks. The agency referenced data from NASA’s FIRMS, which documented thermal anomalies in the areas of the pumping stations, indicating the occurrence of fires.

According to the SBU, strikes on such facilities hold strategic significance as they disrupt the fuel logistics chain in Russia. The agency emphasized that damaging these oil pumping stations complicates the supply of fuel to industrial centers and military infrastructure, while also negatively impacting the export of oil products. Each strike is seen as a means to diminish the resource capabilities of the aggressor state and reduce the revenue that the Kremlin allocates for its military operations against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked on the SBU’s actions, describing them as “entirely justified responses” to the strikes on the oil infrastructure in the Vladimir region.

In the morning of June 10, Russian media reported, citing Vladimir region governor Alexander Avdeev, that the drone attacks resulted in fires at two unspecified infrastructure sites in the Kameshkovo and Alexandrov districts. The governor stated that there were no reported injuries.

The SBU has confirmed drone strikes on two oil pumping stations in Russia's Vladimir region, disrupting critical fuel logistics for the Kremlin. These actions are viewed as strategic measures to weaken Russia's military supply lines amid ongoing conflict.
