Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Clarifies Mobilization Rules for Soldiers

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has issued clarifications regarding the mobilization of soldiers whose contracts have expired. According to the ministry, individuals cannot be immediately mobilized after their service ends due to legal provisions.

Officials stated that there is a mandatory delay of at least six months following the completion of a military contract. In certain situations, this postponement may be extended, particularly for those who have participated in combat operations.

Additionally, the ministry emphasized that active service members are entitled to further deferment after their contract concludes. It was noted that the terms of the contract remain valid even if the conflict comes to an end, as specific timelines are outlined in the agreement.

In related news, Ukraine has announced a significant reform of military pay and service conditions. Under the new regulations, infantry soldiers will become some of the highest-paid combat specialists globally, with an average monthly salary of 300,000 hryvnias, potentially rising to 460,000 hryvnias due to bonuses for combat days and time spent in active positions.

Moreover, the reform introduces three new types of contracts with defined service durations: a 10-14 month infantry assault contract, and two others lasting 24 months each for combat and basic roles. After completing these contracts, soldiers are guaranteed a minimum six-month deferment from mobilization, which can be extended based on the number of combat days served and experience gained since 2022.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has clarified that soldiers whose contracts have expired are entitled to a minimum six-month deferment from mobilization. Additionally, significant reforms in military pay and contract structure have been announced, aiming to enhance service conditions.
