Ukraine Revises Military Compensation Rules, Maximum Payments to Reach 460,000 Hryvnias Monthly

The Ukrainian government has announced significant changes to the compensation structure for military personnel and special forces, with maximum monthly payments on the front lines reaching up to 460,000 hryvnias. This adjustment is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing the financial support for those serving in combat roles.

According to a decree issued by the Cabinet of Ministers, the new payment scheme will be implemented starting June 1, 2026, as part of a two-year experimental project. The compensation amounts will vary based on the service location and the nature of the duties performed:

  • Direct participation in combat operations can yield up to 100,000 hryvnias in additional monthly rewards.
  • Service on the first line (up to the platoon stronghold) will result in payments of 170,000 hryvnias.
  • For those stationed on the second line (up to the company stronghold), the compensation will be 70,000 hryvnias.
  • Personnel at command points for combat units will receive 50,000 hryvnias.
  • Support roles for instructors will earn between 15,000 to 30,000 hryvnias, while other positions in the rear will receive 10,000 hryvnias.

The decree also introduces one-time and daily combat bonuses for successful military operations. For instance, soldiers will receive an additional 20,000 hryvnias per day for storming or regaining their positions, and 40,000 hryvnias for capturing enemy positions.

Furthermore, a reward of 100,000 hryvnias is designated for the capture of a Russian soldier, to be shared among all participants in the operation. Additionally, the destruction of an enemy combatant in either gunfire or hand-to-hand combat will yield 15,000 hryvnias, provided there is video evidence of the act.

Despite these substantial potential earnings, the total compensation for any single military personnel will not exceed 460,000 hryvnias per month.

The Ukrainian government has revised its military compensation framework, introducing substantial monthly payments and bonuses for combat operations. These changes aim to enhance financial support for military personnel, effective from June 2026.
