Ukraine and Russia Conduct Latest Prisoner Exchange, Says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the successful completion of a prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia, resulting in the return of 193 Ukrainian soldiers. The exchanged personnel include members of the Armed Forces, National Guard, State Border Service, National Police, and the State Special Transport Service, all of whom defended Ukraine across various fronts.

Zelensky noted that among those released are individuals facing criminal charges in Russia, as well as several who are wounded. This exchange reflects ongoing efforts to secure the return of Ukrainian citizens held captive.

On April 12, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the President’s Office, indicated that preparations for the next exchange are already underway, with expectations that it could occur by the end of the following week.

The previous exchange took place on April 11, during which 175 Ukrainian military personnel and seven civilians were returned home. Zelensky, in a statement marking the fourth anniversary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on March 26, revealed that over the past four years, a total of 8,669 Ukrainian citizens, both military and civilian, have been successfully repatriated.

The latest prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia has resulted in the return of 193 Ukrainian soldiers. This ongoing process reflects Ukraine's commitment to repatriating its citizens held by Russia, with further exchanges anticipated soon.
