Strategic Chonhar Bridge Severely Damaged by Drone Strikes

The Chonhar Bridge, which connects the occupied Crimean Peninsula to mainland Ukraine, has been reported completely destroyed following multiple drone strikes. This information was confirmed by Andriy Kovalensky, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Kovalensky stated, “The Russian authorities are attempting to suppress information regarding the situation in temporarily occupied Crimea.” The Chonhar Bridge serves as the most direct and convenient route for transporting military equipment and supplies from Crimea to the southern front.

Alternative routes through Armyansk and Perekop are longer and less efficient for logistical purposes. The first drone strike on the Chonhar Bridge occurred on Sunday, June 7, prompting a temporary restoration of traffic in a reversible mode.

However, on June 9, the bridge was targeted again by drones, leading to the suspension of traffic once more. In response, the occupying authorities advised users to consider alternative routes via Armyansk and Perekop.

Additionally, on the morning of June 10, the bridge connecting Henichesk and Arabat Spit in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region was also closed. This marks the second significant crossing to be halted in recent days following the Chonhar Bridge incident.

The destruction of the Chonhar Bridge highlights ongoing disruptions in transport routes between Crimea and mainland Ukraine. The closure of this strategic link may impact military logistics in the region.
