Den Negrey, the U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, reaffirmed America’s commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty. He emphasized that time is not on Russia’s side.
“The U.S. stands with Ukraine in defending its freedom and sovereignty. We support the Ukrainian people who are suffering from attacks that damage critical infrastructure and cultural heritage, including strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” stated Negrey.
He referenced comments made by President Donald Trump, highlighting the urgency to end the conflict swiftly. “As President Trump clearly stated during last week’s G7 summit, Russia needs to reach an agreement. Time is not on Moscow’s side,” he added.
Negrey noted that the Russian military is reportedly losing around 40,000 soldiers monthly, either killed or wounded, while the Russian economy is currently in a precarious situation. Meanwhile, Ukraine is rapidly innovating on the battlefield.
The diplomat remarked that the war has dragged on for too long and must come to an end. He stressed that the only viable solution lies in diplomacy and negotiations, as nothing else will halt the senseless killings.
“The United States is determined to achieve a ceasefire and negotiate an agreement that will end the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as possible. Enough is enough! It is time for an immediate ceasefire,” declared Negrey.
In conclusion, he urged both sides to return to the negotiating table.
“Now is the time for Russia and Ukraine to come back to the negotiation process and reach a peace agreement,” he summarized.
