Russian Strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro Result in Casualties

On May 5, Russian forces launched attacks on the cities of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro, leading to numerous casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized these actions as a “terrorist strike” devoid of military rationale.

According to Zelensky, seven individuals were hospitalized following the assault in Zaporizhzhia, with a total of 37 reported injuries. He indicated that the strikes targeted civilian infrastructure using guided aerial bombs, emphasizing that the aggressors show no restraint in their efforts to destroy lives.

“This is an utterly cynical act of terrorism with no military justification. Attacks like these occur daily against our cities and villages. This particular strike has already claimed 12 lives,” Zelensky stated.

Furthermore, he reported that a subsequent attack on Dnipro resulted in at least four fatalities. Zelensky underscored the necessity for Russia to be compelled to halt its military actions, asserting that peace is essential every day, not just during brief pauses for celebrations.

In response to the attacks, the city of Zaporizhzhia has declared May 6 as a Day of Mourning, reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Recent Russian military strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro have resulted in significant casualties, with Ukrainian officials condemning the attacks as acts of terrorism. The ongoing violence underscores the urgent need for a cessation of hostilities.
