Russian Strikes Leave Casualties and Power Outages in Chernihiv Region

Overnight, Russian forces targeted the Chernihiv region, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The strikes also caused significant power outages, affecting approximately 54,000 residents.

According to Chernihiv’s mayor, Oleksandr Lomaka, the attacks were aimed at residential buildings, schools, and critical infrastructure. He expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and commended the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel at the attack sites.

This marks the second nighttime assault on the city within just a few days, raising concerns among residents about ongoing security threats.

In addition to the direct impacts on Chernihiv, the strikes also disrupted electricity supply in the neighboring Nizhyn district, leaving many without power. Local energy company, Chernihivoblenergo, has initiated restoration efforts to address the outages.

Throughout the previous day, drone attacks were reported across various areas in the Chernihiv region. In the Korukivka district, a drone struck a residential yard, injuring a 46-year-old homeowner. In another incident within the Men community, a fire broke out due to an attack, destroying a house and a bathhouse. Additionally, several private households sustained damage in the Ponornytsia community of the Novhorod-Siverskyi district.

Recent Russian strikes in the Chernihiv region have resulted in casualties and extensive power outages. The attacks have raised alarm among residents, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the area.
