On April 4, Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz reported renewed attacks by Russian military forces on its infrastructure in the Poltava region. The company’s chairman, Serhiy Koretsky, stated that drones were used in the assault, which resulted in a fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
Koretsky noted that since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have launched over 40 attacks on Naftogaz facilities. This recent incident is part of a broader pattern of assaults that have intensified since the onset of the full-scale invasion.
Naftogaz has consistently documented damage to its assets due to Russian strikes. The company revealed that during the full-scale invasion, there have been more than 400 attacks on its infrastructure. Notably, in 2025 alone, 229 attacks were recorded, surpassing the total from the previous three years combined.
These ongoing assaults have had significant repercussions for Naftogaz, leading to a decrease in domestic gas production. As a result, the company has been compelled to import additional gas supplies to ensure stability during the heating season.
Russian military forces have once again targeted Naftogaz infrastructure, marking a continuation of a series of attacks that have severely impacted Ukraine's energy sector. The ongoing assaults have forced the company to import gas to maintain stability amid rising hostilities.
