Russian forces have once again struck critical infrastructure in the Chernihiv region of Ukraine, specifically targeting facilities belonging to Chernihivoblenergo.
The attack has resulted in damage to energy facilities, leaving over 6,000 subscribers in the city and surrounding areas without electricity. Additionally, several other infrastructure sites have also been hit.
Chernihivoblenergo has announced that emergency restoration efforts will commence as soon as it is safe to do so in the region.
This incident is not the first of its kind, as attacks on energy infrastructure have become a frequent occurrence. On the evening of April 14, thousands in Chernihiv lost power due to damage inflicted on a cable line by occupying forces.
Earlier, on the night of April 13, following the Easter holiday, Russian forces targeted Chernihivoblenergo again, affecting 12,000 subscribers.
The most significant assault occurred on March 25, when 150,000 residents in Chernihiv and its district experienced power outages after a shell struck an energy system facility, leading to an immediate power shortage in the network.
Recent attacks by Russian forces on Chernihiv's energy infrastructure have left thousands without power. The situation remains critical as restoration efforts await improved safety conditions.
