Late on May 25, Russian military forces executed a combined strike on the city of Odesa, leading to infrastructure damage and civilian casualties.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a threat of ballistic missile use was detected from the south at 10:05 PM. Shortly after, a fast-moving target was identified heading towards Odesa, followed by an explosion in the city.
The head of the Odesa regional military administration later confirmed that the attack involved multiple types of weaponry, including drones.
About an hour after the assault, officials provided updates on the aftermath. Sergey Lisak reported that an infrastructure facility in one of Odesa’s districts was damaged, and the shockwave from the explosion shattered windows in nearby residential buildings and educational institutions.
Initially, two injuries were reported, but this number rose as more information became available. “The number of injured has increased to four. Unfortunately, we have just learned that one of them has died. Doctors fought to save him, but the injuries were incompatible with life,” the statement read.
Lisak also noted that specialists from the regional administration are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
