Russian military forces are escalating their efforts to push Ukrainian troops out of the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk, aiming to advance towards the settlement of Shevchenko. This operation is part of a broader strategy to capture Pokrovsk, as reported by Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces.
The primary objective remains the expulsion of Ukrainian defense units from the northern areas of the city, facilitating further advances. To bolster their offensive capabilities, Russian forces are reportedly increasing their deployment of armored vehicles and tanks in the southern part of Pokrovsk.
Despite these efforts, the 76th Air Assault Division of the Russian army has suffered significant casualties due to active engagements in northern Pokrovsk. In response, Russian commanders are drawing on reserves, including units identified as “Somalia.”
In addition to operations near Pokrovsk, Russian forces are also conducting maneuvers in the vicinity of Hryshyne, attempting to move from the northeastern side of the settlement towards agricultural areas to the north. However, these attempts have so far been unsuccessful.
To coordinate defensive actions in the Pokrovsk agglomeration, Brigadier General Yevhen Lasiichuk, commander of the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, has held several meetings with units operating in the area. Key discussion points have included improving combat management and enhancing cooperation among units.
A critical focus of the defense strategy is maintaining control of the airspace over Pokrovsk. The city has become a launch point for Russian strike and reconnaissance drones, complicating logistical operations for Ukrainian forces.
Russian forces are intensifying their offensive operations near Pokrovsk, aiming to expel Ukrainian troops and capture the city. Despite heavy losses, they are increasing their military presence and attempting maneuvers in surrounding areas, while Ukrainian commanders are focusing on airspace control and enhancing unit coordination.
