Massive Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Hit Ukraine on June 2

On the night of June 2, Russian forces launched a significant attack on Ukraine, utilizing missiles and drones. The capital city of Kyiv reported damage across multiple districts, with notable incidents in Podil, Obolon, and others.

In Podil, a fire broke out on non-residential property, and debris fell onto the roof of a nine-story building. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, indicated that a subsequent strike on the same building caused structural collapse, raising concerns that individuals may be trapped under the rubble.

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, the number of injured has risen to 51, including three children, one of whom is just three years old. The mayor confirmed that four fatalities have been recorded in the capital.

In the Kyiv region, military administration head Mykola Kalashnik reported drone and missile strikes, resulting in three injuries, all of whom received medical assistance. Meanwhile, in Dnipro, regional governor Oleksandr Hanchak reported six fatalities and 33 injuries due to the attacks, with some victims in serious condition.

In Kamyanske, three individuals were injured, including a 50-year-old man and two women aged 49 and 72, who were hospitalized in moderate condition. Additionally, Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv region, confirmed that eight people were injured in the Slobidsky district, with seven experiencing acute stress reactions and one woman suffering glass-related injuries.

President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously warned that the threat of mass strikes from Russia remains active. Ukrainian officials and international organizations classify these attacks as war crimes, emphasizing their targeted nature against civilian infrastructure.

These assaults are seen as part of a broader strategy to undermine essential services, such as electricity and healthcare, which some legal experts argue may constitute acts of genocide against the Ukrainian people. The UN’s Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, established in 1948, outlines actions that could be classified as genocide, including the deliberate infliction of conditions calculated to destroy a group.

Despite the evidence, Russian leadership continues to deny that its military is intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, claiming that their operations focus solely on military objectives.

On June 2, Russian forces conducted extensive missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, resulting in multiple casualties and significant damage, particularly in Kyiv and Dnipro. Ukrainian officials classify these attacks as war crimes, highlighting their targeted nature against civilians.
