Iran Rules Out New Negotiations with the U.S. Amid Ongoing Conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East

Iran has announced it will not engage in a second round of negotiations with the United States. This decision follows a series of military actions in Ukraine, including drone strikes that have affected the port and oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, as well as ongoing fires in Sevastopol.

Key Developments:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked that the defeat of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in recent elections reflects a lack of support within Hungary for anti-Ukrainian sentiments. On April 22, EU ambassadors are expected to finalize amendments to the EU’s multiannual budget, paving the way for a loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027 that Hungary had previously blocked.

In the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that Tehran has no plans for further talks with Washington, citing U.S. violations of agreements, including the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the seizure of an Iranian cargo ship.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that extending a two-week ceasefire with Iran is unlikely unless a deal is reached before its expiration, adding that the Strait of Hormuz will remain blocked until an agreement is achieved. A high-level U.S. delegation led by Vice President Jay D. Vance is en route to Pakistan for discussions with Iranian officials.

In related news, the UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy, reported that over 90% of the targets attacked by Iran in the UAE were civilian sites.

Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly halted following a brief resumption over the weekend, which ended with the U.S. Navy detaining an Iranian vessel.

Military Developments in Ukraine:

On the front lines, the Ukrainian military has recorded 52 attacks since the start of the day, with the Pokrovsk direction being the most intense. The Ministry of Defense has introduced a universal ground station for managing fiber-optic drones for the first time.

Additionally, a Russian drone struck the home of a defense ministry advisor in the Kyiv region, who survived and is currently hospitalized. The Russian military has intensified its pressure in the Donetsk region, particularly around Hryshyne.

Ukrainian forces have dismissed claims of a threat to Sumy, stating that Russian troops are far from the city, having only captured a few villages along the border. Reports confirm that Ukrainian troops successfully targeted two Russian large landing ships in Crimea.

In Tuapse, a reservoir park at the oil refinery is ablaze following drone strikes, and the Ukrainian military has confirmed the attack. Meanwhile, in Sevastopol, a fuel depot has been burning for three consecutive days.

Casualties and Damage:

In Zaporizhzhia, one person has died and four others, including a child, have been injured due to strikes that damaged residential and commercial buildings. In Bohodukhiv, three men were injured following an attack on a gas station.

Power outages have been reported in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions due to ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure.

In Kyiv, the death toll from a recent terrorist attack in the Holosiivskyi district has risen to seven, including musician Ihor Savchenko from the band “Druhe Sontse.”

In Odesa, a city council member was found dead, and the High Anti-Corruption Court is reviewing an appeal from Yulia Tymoshenko regarding allegations of bribery against parliament members.

Iran has confirmed it will not pursue further negotiations with the U.S., coinciding with escalating military actions in Ukraine and the Middle East. Key developments include ongoing fires in Russian facilities and significant military engagements on Ukrainian fronts, alongside rising casualties from recent attacks.
