March 2026 has emerged as a pivotal month for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, characterized by intensified military operations and ongoing defensive efforts. Ukrainian troops have reported successes in reclaiming portions of territory previously held by Russian forces.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces noted that while the Russian aggressor is suffering significant losses, it remains steadfast in its objectives to seize control of Ukraine.
The primary tasks for Ukraine’s defense forces include neutralizing enemy forces, halting their advance, targeting Russian supply lines, including deep within their territory, and safeguarding the airspace over cities and towns.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian military conducts monthly assessments of combat operations, analyzing outcomes and refining tactics. This approach enhances operational effectiveness and incorporates lessons learned at all levels of command.
With changing weather conditions, the enemy has escalated offensive actions along nearly the entire 1,200-kilometer front line. The most intense clashes during March occurred in the Oleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman directions.
“We must seize the strategic initiative, which is why we are conducting active defense,” the Commander-in-Chief stated.
In March, Ukrainian forces regained control over approximately 50 square kilometers of territory that had been occupied by the adversary.
He further highlighted that Ukraine counters the numerical superiority of the enemy with superior combat quality, compelling the adversary to operate under Ukrainian conditions and delaying their operational goals.
Additionally, he reported ongoing strikes on military infrastructure within Russia that supports the occupying forces. In March, Ukrainian deep strike capabilities targeted 76 objectives, including 15 facilities in the oil refining sector.
The Commander-in-Chief also received briefings on mobilization and recruitment efforts, logistical support, fortification of defensive positions, and maintaining the combat readiness of units.
