On the evening of April 24, a series of explosions were reported in the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk, followed by a significant fire. Eyewitnesses suggest that the blasts may have been caused by drone attacks.
The explosions triggered a large-scale fire in the area, and there are also reports of power outages affecting the city. As of now, there has been no official comment from the occupying authorities regarding the incident, and details about potential casualties and the extent of the damage are still being clarified.
It is noteworthy that just days prior, on April 18, the partisan movement known as “ATEŞ” announced a sabotage operation in Luhansk that resulted in the disabling of a substation supplying power to a railway hub used for transporting military supplies to Russian forces.
Earlier in March, the same group conducted operations targeting railway infrastructure in occupied Luhansk, which serves as a crucial supply route for Russian troops. Additionally, ATEŞ operatives have executed missions near Sevastopol, disabling communication facilities that impacted the operation of Ukrainian drones, and in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, where they destroyed telecommunications equipment used for military coordination.
The recent explosions in Luhansk and the ensuing fire could be attributed to the actions of Ukrainian drone forces or may represent a continuation of the sabotage activities carried out by partisans. However, official information regarding the causes of the explosions has yet to be released.
