Russian Strikes Hit Zaporizhzhia, Resulting in Casualties and Damage

On the evening of June 16, Russian forces launched attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia, resulting in one fatality and three individuals requiring medical attention. This information was confirmed by Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration.

Preliminary reports indicate that the city was struck by five separate projectiles. The assaults caused a fire in a residential building and a shopping center, while an educational institution also sustained damage, with windows blown out by the force of the explosions.

As emergency services continue to assess the impact of the strikes, the local administration has reported that one person has died, and three others sought medical assistance. Efforts to evaluate the sites of the impacts are ongoing.

Residents in need of assistance can contact the municipal call center at 1580 or reach out via mobile at (050) 414 15 80 and (067) 656 15 80. Additionally, the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration has established a hotline for evacuation and support for those affected by the attacks, which can be reached at 0800 331 630.

This incident is not isolated, as Zaporizhzhia has faced multiple attacks in recent weeks. On June 12, a drone strike targeted a terminal operated by Nova Poshta in the city, igniting a significant fire, although there were no reported injuries at that time.

Attacks on civilian infrastructure have been reported across Ukraine. In the early hours of June 15, Russian forces conducted a combined strike on Kyiv, damaging residential buildings and the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, resulting in injuries among the population.

Recent Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia resulted in one death and several injuries, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure. The local administration is providing assistance to those affected as evaluations of the damage continue.
