Drone Strike Hits Key Oil Pumping Station in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region

In the early hours of Thursday, April 23, drones operated by Ukraine’s Special Operations Center “Alpha” targeted the “Gorky” oil pumping station in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. This facility plays a crucial role in the country’s oil transportation network.

The “Gorky” station is part of the infrastructure of Transneft, a major Russian oil transport company, and is responsible for transporting oil through main pipelines, including the route from Surgut to Gorky and Polotsk. It facilitates the flow of crude oil to domestic refineries, notably to the Lukoil refinery in Kstovo.

Initial reports indicate that three oil storage tanks were damaged in the strike, leading to a significant fire covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters.

According to sources, the damage to such critical infrastructure disrupts logistics for oil supply within Russia. This incident affects the operation of main pipelines, reduces the efficiency of oil refining processes, and increases transportation costs.

Furthermore, these disruptions are expected to have a direct impact on the Russian budget, which relies on oil revenues to fund various initiatives, including military operations in Ukraine.

A drone strike on the "Gorky" oil pumping station in Russia has caused significant damage and a large fire, disrupting oil logistics and potentially impacting military funding. This incident highlights the vulnerabilities in Russia's oil infrastructure amid ongoing conflict.
