Drone Attack in Cherkasy Claims Life of Child Amid Ongoing Hostilities

On the evening of April 14, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Cherkasy, resulting in the death of an eight-year-old boy. The assault involved strike drones targeting the region, although Ukrainian defenders successfully intercepted nine of the incoming threats.

The head of the Cherkasy regional administration expressed condolences to the family of the deceased child, noting the tragic outcome of the attack. In addition to the fatality, nine individuals were hospitalized, including another child, while three local residents received on-site medical assistance.

According to the regional official, at least four residential buildings sustained damage due to the strike. Authorities have urged residents to heed warnings regarding potential threats.

In a related incident earlier the same day, Russian forces also targeted Dnipro with missile strikes. This attack resulted in significant destruction to civilian infrastructure, including damage to shops and vehicles. As of the evening, reports indicated five fatalities and 27 injuries, with many victims in critical condition.

The mayor of Cherkasy, Anatoliy Bondarenko, reported that children were playing in a yard during the drone attack. He stated, “The boy was in the courtyard with his peers. The other children are currently under medical supervision.”
