Casualties Rise Following Russian Shelling in Zaporizhzhia

The city of Zaporizhzhia has reported an increase in casualties following a recent Russian shelling incident. Authorities confirmed that five individuals have died and eleven others have sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

Emergency services are currently providing urgent medical assistance to those injured, with final casualty figures still being verified. The shelling has caused significant damage to the city’s civilian infrastructure, impacting twelve apartment buildings, social facilities, private property, and vehicles.

Rescue teams have recovered the body of a deceased woman from the rubble of one of the affected buildings. Firefighters have also been active in extinguishing fires that broke out in agricultural structures and dry grass due to the strikes.

All emergency services are on-site, working to mitigate the damage and assist residents affected by the shelling.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on Zaporizhzhia. On June 19, a drone strike targeted a logistics facility in the city, resulting in injuries to at least three individuals. Prior to this incident, Ukrainian military intelligence intercepted communications indicating that Russian commanders had received orders to prepare for extensive drone assaults on Zaporizhzhia, specifically targeting civilian structures.

One of the deadliest attacks occurred on May 5, when the Russian military launched a barrage of guided aerial bombs on local businesses and residential areas, leading to twelve fatalities and thirty-nine injuries of varying severity.

The recent Russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia has resulted in five deaths and eleven injuries, with emergency services actively responding to the aftermath. The attacks have intensified in recent weeks, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
