As of late June, the prices of essential goods in Ukrainian supermarkets have largely remained stable, although some items have seen significant price fluctuations in recent days. A recent survey conducted by RBC-Ukraine on June 22 highlights current prices across popular supermarket chains.
Key Findings:
- Bread: White wheat bread remains most affordable at Auchan.
- Buckwheat: Prices have plummeted by more than half at Silpo.
- Eggs: Prices have remained unchanged across most chains.
- Milk: A competitive offer has emerged at Auchan.
- Sunflower Oil: Auchan provides the lowest price.
For comparison, only the cheapest options were selected from each chain (ATB, Silpo, Novus, and Auchan).
Bread: Stability with Minor Fluctuations
Most supermarket chains have kept their prices for bread products steady, except for Silpo, where the available assortment has changed:
- Silpo: A half loaf of sliced Sumskaya Palianytsia Kozatsky (0.35 kg) costs UAH 12.99, compared to the Agrola ‘Narodniy’ 650 g loaf priced at UAH 12.49 on Friday.
- ATB: The soft toast bread ‘Krytynopil’ (300 g) remains priced at UAH 23.90.
- Novus: The half-sliced ‘Ukrainian’ from TM ‘Marka Promo’ (400 g) is available for UAH 25.79.
- Auchan: White wheat bread ‘Formula Smaku’ (350 g) is priced at UAH 14.50.

Buckwheat: Dramatic Price Drop at Silpo
The most significant price change this week was observed at Silpo, where the introduction of a budget option has led to a reduction in buckwheat prices by more than half:
- Silpo: Extra buckwheat (1 kg) is now UAH 15.69, down from UAH 36.99 for TM ‘Sityi Dvir’ on Friday.
- ATB: ‘Rozumnyi Vybіr’ (1 kg) remains stable at UAH 65.90.
- Novus: TM ‘Marka Promo’ (1 kg) is priced at UAH 65.99.
- Auchan: Quick-cooking buckwheat (1 kg) costs UAH 69.90.
Eggs: Price Freeze
The price of chicken eggs has remained completely stable, with all four supermarket chains maintaining their prices from Friday:
- Auchan offers the lowest price at UAH 2.90 per egg or UAH 29.00 per dozen.
- ATB: A dozen from TM ‘Svoya Liniya’ (1st category) costs UAH 50.90.
- Silpo: ‘Pashot’ eggs (10 pcs) are priced at UAH 52.28.
- Novus: TM ‘Marka Promo’ (10 pcs) is available for UAH 52.39.
Milk: Packaging Changes at Auchan
While prices for smaller milk packages (400-450 g) remain unchanged, shoppers at Auchan should note the updated product offerings:
- ATB: Pasteurized ‘Shchodennyi Zbir’ 2.5% (450 g) costs UAH 21.30.
- Silpo: ‘Povna Chasha’ 2.6% (450 g) is priced at UAH 21.49.
- Auchan: The larger 900 g bottle of Auchan milk 2.6% (previously UAH 38.90) has been replaced with a smaller 400 g version priced at UAH 21.90.
- Novus: Ultra-pasteurized TM ‘Marka Promo’ 2.5% (900 g) remains steady at UAH 34.99.
Sunflower Oil: Novus Updates Selection
While most supermarkets have kept their prices for half-liter bottles stable, Novus has introduced a new product:
- Auchan: The private label offers the lowest market price at UAH 48.00 for 0.5 liters.
- ATB: ‘Svoya Liniya’ refined oil (0.5 l) is priced at UAH 53.13.
- Silpo: TM ‘Premiya’ refined oil (0.5 l) costs UAH 53.99.
- Novus: Instead of the previously available refined oil Marka Promo (0.8 l) at UAH 72.99, customers can now find ‘Oleina Presova’ (500 ml) for UAH 71.94.
Recent data shows that while the prices of basic groceries in Ukrainian supermarkets have remained largely stable, notable changes have occurred, particularly with buckwheat prices dropping significantly at Silpo. Other staples, such as eggs and milk, have seen little to no price variation, indicating a mixed market response as of late June.
