On June 13, the Ukrainian General Staff reported 179 combat engagements along the front lines, highlighting a significant escalation in hostilities.
According to the evening update, Russian forces conducted 65 airstrikes, deploying 196 guided bombs. Additionally, they utilized 6,438 kamikaze drones and executed 2,154 artillery strikes targeting Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.
Nearly half of the reported battles occurred in two main sectors: Pokrovsk and Huliaipole. In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 27 attacks, attempting to advance in the areas of Vasylivka, Rodynske, Shevchenkove, Novopidhorodne, Kotlyne, Udalye, Novopavlivka, and towards Hryshyne, Novyi Shakhtovyi, Kucherovyi Yar, and Serhiivka. Four clashes are ongoing.
In the Huliaipole sector, 22 combat incidents were recorded near the settlements of Rybne, Olenokostyantynivka, Huliaipilske, Ternuvate, Zaliznychne, Verkhnya Tersa, Charivne, and towards Dobropillia and Vozdvizhivka, with one engagement still in progress.
Fighting also persisted in other areas of Donetsk. In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 11 attempts by Russian troops to advance near the settlements of Novyi Myr, Drobysheve, Lyman, Dibrivka, Torske, and Ozerne, with two clashes ongoing. In the Sloviansk direction, 10 attempts were thwarted near Zakittne and towards Kryva Luka and Rai-Oleksandrivka, with one engagement continuing.
On the Kostiantynivka front, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled nine attacks near Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Pleshchiyivka, and towards Kostiantynivka, with two assaults still active. Further clashes were reported in the North-Slobozhansky, Kursk, South-Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Oleksandrivka, Orikhiv, and Dniprovsk directions.
Data from the DeepState project indicates that May marked the first month since autumn 2023 where Russian forces experienced a net loss of occupied territory, losing more land than they captured. This observation is corroborated by the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which noted that over six months of intense assaults (from December 2025 to May 2026), Russian troops managed to advance by only approximately 40 square kilometers. Ukrainian forces have effectively halted the Russian offensive during the spring-summer campaign of 2026, according to analysts.
Amid these developments, reports from Radio Free Europe’s Donbas Realities project indicate a marked deterioration in the situation in Kostiantynivka. The DeepState project map illustrates that since mid-May, Russian forces have approached the city closely, with their soldiers increasingly observed in various districts, indicating a shift to a ‘grey zone.’ An analyst from the Information Resistance group, Kostyantyn Mashovets, expressed concern, stating, “I hope I am mistaken, but it seems that Ukraine may lose Kostiantynivka during June or July.”
The ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine has intensified, with significant combat activity reported on June 13. Ukrainian forces are facing increased assaults from Russian troops, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors, amid a broader trend of territorial losses for the aggressor.
