The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has announced a significant overhaul of military service contracts, introducing new financial incentives aimed at enhancing the motivation of service members. This initiative includes additional rewards for combat achievements, a one-time signing bonus, and annual health support payments.
Under the new framework, soldiers will receive specific bonuses for their performance in combat. These include 100,000 hryvnias for each enemy captured and 15,000 hryvnias for each enemy killed in direct combat.
First-time contract signers will benefit from a one-time payment ranging from 27,000 to 33,000 hryvnias, depending on their military rank. Additionally, service members will be eligible for an annual health assistance payment of at least 20,000 hryvnias.
The Defense Ministry’s reform also introduces three types of contracts: infantry-assault, combat, and basic. Salaries for infantry-assault positions can reach up to 460,000 hryvnias per month, based on a base rate of 20,000 hryvnias plus performance bonuses calculated on a scale of 10,000 for daily positions, 20,000 for search-and-strike operations, and 40,000 for assaults.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko previously highlighted these changes, emphasizing the adjustments in salaries based on roles and tasks performed by military personnel.
