Explosive ordnance disposal teams in Odesa successfully neutralized an unexploded Russian drone warhead, weighing 50 kilograms, which was discovered in an apartment following a nighttime attack on the city.
During the drone assault on June 10, one of the UAVs struck a residential building in the Primorsky district. Upon arrival, police bomb disposal experts found remnants of a “Geran-2” drone, including its engine, electronic components, and the intact warhead in an apartment on the 11th floor of the 18-story building.
Authorities reported that the warhead was in a “highly dangerous condition,” as it was equipped with a detonator and had suffered mechanical damage.
The specialists conducted operations to safely discharge and remove the explosive materials, with plans to destroy the ordnance at a designated site.
In a broader context, on the night of June 10, Russia launched an attack involving 207 strike drones, including types such as Shahed and others. While air defense forces intercepted most of these drones, some managed to hit targets, including in Odesa.
This incident marks the second occurrence of unexploded drone ordnance being found in Odesa within a month. In May, a similar warhead from a Shahed drone was found lodged in the wall of a 15th-floor apartment, prompting a specialized operation for its removal, which included assistance from radiation, chemical, and biological protection experts.
Odesa's bomb disposal teams neutralized a 50-kilogram unexploded warhead from a Russian drone after it struck a residential building. This incident follows a broader drone attack on Ukraine, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the region.
