Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Visits Estonia for NB8 Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Estonia to participate in the North Baltic Cooperation (NB8) summit, where he met with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. This visit underscores Ukraine’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in Europe amid ongoing security challenges.

During his meeting with Orpo, Zelensky discussed the development of anti-ballistic defense systems and preparations for a potential agreement known as the Drone Deal. He emphasized the importance of enhancing Europe’s defense capabilities and addressed regional security challenges, stating, “The main goal is to increase protection in Europe.”

Zelensky also expressed gratitude for Finland’s support, particularly regarding military aid and contributions to the PURL program. He noted, “It is crucial that Finland is ready to continue assisting us,” highlighting the collaborative efforts between Ukraine and its European partners.

According to presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nikiforov, Zelensky has already held bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of Finland, Latvia, and Sweden. He is scheduled to meet with Estonian President Alar Karis and will also engage with other summit leaders throughout the day.

In the afternoon, Zelensky will participate in the “Ukraine-NB8” summit, further solidifying Ukraine’s partnerships within the region. His visit, which includes meetings with various leaders, aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and address pressing security needs.

Zelensky’s trip to Estonia comes as part of a broader strategy to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and foster international support amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
