Ukrainian President Zelensky Meets with European Leaders to Discuss Ongoing Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently convened with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a meeting focused on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The discussions, held in the E3 format, centered on the current situation at the front lines and the significant losses incurred by Russian forces.

During the meeting, Zelensky emphasized the scale of Russian military casualties, stating, “For five consecutive months, the aggressor has lost more than 30,000 troops, both killed and wounded. Our assessments align with those of our partners: Russia is not winning on the battlefield, and our mid-strikes and diplomatic efforts are significantly limiting its ability to escalate aggression. However, it is crucial to ensure protection against ballistic threats, which continue to terrorize our cities and communities.”

The discussions also included a focus on enhancing diplomatic efforts and addressing Ukraine’s immediate needs. Zelensky informed Starmer about the necessity for additional missiles for air defense systems and other critical resources to safeguard energy infrastructure as the country prepares for winter.

Furthermore, the leaders coordinated their positions ahead of upcoming G7 and NATO summits, as well as meetings of the Coalition of Willing. The collaboration among these European leaders underscores a united front in supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
