A man was apprehended in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv after allegedly discharging a firearm in the courtyard of a residential building, according to local police reports.
Authorities received a call via emergency hotline 112 regarding an individual reportedly firing a weapon in the area. Officers responded promptly and located a suspect in possession of an object resembling a firearm.
Given the potential threat posed by the situation, law enforcement officials readied their firearms in accordance with Article 46 of the Law of Ukraine on the National Police. The suspect was subsequently detained using handcuffs.
During a search of the surrounding area, police discovered shell casings believed to have been left from the gunfire. A criminal investigation team was summoned to the scene, and the weapon was confiscated for forensic examination.
The suspect was taken into custody under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
This incident follows another shooting earlier in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, where a driver reportedly fired shots during a traffic altercation. Initial investigations indicate that the conflict escalated between drivers, leading one to discharge a firearm multiple times.
