According to a recent report from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), Russia has the capacity to launch as many as 100 ballistic missiles each month targeting Ukraine.
The report indicates that by 2026, Russia’s military-industrial complex plans to deliver 700 9M723 ballistic missiles for the Iskander tactical missile system, maintaining the same production levels as the previous year. Current production rates are estimated at 55 to 60 missiles per month.
Additionally, Russia has significantly increased the production of RM-48U strike missiles for the S-300PM/S-400 air defense systems, which are utilized for ground attacks. In 2026, over 480 of these missiles are expected to be produced, a notable rise from more than 200 in 2025. The monthly output currently stands at around 50 missiles.
This year, Russia also aims to deliver 60 hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles known as Kinzhal.
The HUR emphasized that given the current production rates, Russia could sustain monthly missile strikes against Ukrainian targets while maintaining its stockpiles. Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia could produce approximately 120 ballistic missiles each month, along with various other missile types.
The Ukrainian intelligence report reveals Russia's capability to launch up to 100 ballistic missiles monthly, with significant increases in missile production planned for the coming years. This highlights ongoing military tensions and the potential for sustained conflict in the region.
