Zaporizhzhia Under Attack: Multiple Casualties Reported in Latest Russian Strikes

In the early hours of May 29, Russian forces launched another assault on Zaporizhzhia, resulting in damage to residential buildings and injuries to civilians. The attack has raised concerns as local authorities reported explosions in the region around 4:15 AM.

While the exact nature of the attack remains unclear, there were warnings earlier in the night about potential drone strikes and the use of aerial bombs. Following the bombardment, a fire broke out in one of the affected high-rise buildings.

According to local official Fedorov, significant damage occurred, with windows and balconies shattered. Initially, one person was reported injured, but this number later increased to two women, aged 80 and 47, who sustained shrapnel wounds to their faces, legs, and chests. Medical assistance is currently being provided to the victims.

This incident is part of a troubling trend, as Zaporizhzhia has faced frequent attacks from Russian forces utilizing drones and other weaponry. Just weeks earlier, on May 6, a strike targeted an industrial facility in the area, causing substantial damage.

On May 5, airstrikes resulted in fires affecting vehicles, a store, and local businesses, along with damage to residential structures, leading to numerous injuries. The city also experienced attacks on April 2, when explosions damaged both a high-rise building and a municipal enterprise, affecting windows and balconies.

The recent Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia has resulted in injuries and significant property damage, continuing a pattern of assaults on the city. Local authorities are responding to the needs of the injured as concerns about ongoing hostilities rise.
