Ukraine Calls for Increased International Support Following Massive Russian Attack

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged international partners to enhance their support for Ukraine following a significant night-time assault by Russian forces. In a statement on social media, he emphasized the need for allies to double their efforts in backing Ukraine and increasing pressure on the Russian regime.

Sybiha stated, “It is time to intensify efforts rather than retreat in support of Ukraine and to strengthen pressure on Russia. We call for additional defensive capabilities, particularly for the protection of our skies, investments in our defense industry, and decisive political actions regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU.” He also highlighted the importance of utilizing existing leverage to demonstrate to Moscow that such attacks would yield no results.

According to the Minister, the Russian military launched one of its largest strikes on Kyiv, deploying approximately 600 drones and dozens of missiles of various types. The attacks also affected several regions, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Zhytomyr.

Sybiha reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, a unique architectural landmark constructed by Yosyp Lankhard in 1939, sustained minor damage during the strikes, marking the first such incident since World War II.

On the night of May 24, Ukraine faced a coordinated attack involving 600 drones and 90 missiles, primarily targeting Kyiv. As a result of the assault, two individuals were killed and 69 others injured. Damage was reported at over 40 locations across various districts in Kyiv, including Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Holosiivskyi.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, residential buildings, shopping centers, educational institutions, markets, and administrative buildings of the State Emergency Service and police were among the affected sites, along with the National Chernobyl Museum.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed responsibility for the extensive drone and missile strike, including the use of ballistic missiles, targeting military command facilities, air bases, and enterprises within Ukraine’s defense industry.

Following a significant assault by Russian forces, Ukraine's Foreign Minister has called for increased international support and pressure on Russia. The attack resulted in casualties and widespread damage across multiple regions, highlighting the ongoing conflict's severity.
