Ukrainian Foreign Minister Highlights Critical Moment in War with Russia

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, has declared that the ongoing conflict with Russia is at a pivotal juncture. He emphasized that achieving peace requires a focus on three essential components.

Sybiha made these remarks during an informal ministerial meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council held in Helsinki, attended by foreign ministers from allied NATO countries. He pointed out that Russia’s human resources are no longer a decisive advantage in the war.

“We are at a turning point in the war, and pressure on Moscow is increasing. Ukraine is holding the line, and Russia’s manpower is no longer a critical advantage,” he stated.

To facilitate peace, Sybiha outlined the need for renewed efforts in diplomacy, pressure, and military strength. He remarked, “We require a new impetus in our peace efforts, alongside the strengthening of our long-term sanctions and other leverage points.”

Additionally, he informed allies about the rising threats from Belarus and urged for appropriate actions to deter any expansionist moves from Moscow and Minsk.

Ukraine is now positioned not merely as a recipient of aid but as an active participant in the security guarantee process, ready to share its experiences with allies. “These investments will yield the greatest dividends for the world throughout our lifetimes. I thank all our allies for their commitment to our common cause, for today’s contributions, and for their unwavering support of Ukraine. Special thanks to Sweden for being an excellent ally,” Sybiha added.

In conclusion, Sybiha noted that NATO has strengthened over the past year, with the decision to increase military spending to 5% of GDP marking a historic milestone, stating, “The United States deserves commendation for this.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has emphasized the current critical phase of the conflict with Russia, highlighting the need for a multifaceted approach to achieve peace. He called for enhanced diplomatic efforts, pressure tactics, and military readiness while recognizing NATO's strengthened position over the past year.
