Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in China for a two-day visit, as reported by TASS. Upon landing in Beijing, he was welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with an honor guard and a group of local students.
According to Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Putin, discussions between the Russian leader and Chinese President Xi Jinping will focus on pressing international issues over tea. The visit is expected to result in the signing of approximately 40 cooperation agreements.
This trip comes shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump’s first visit to China in nearly a decade, which concluded on May 15. Trump arrived in Beijing on May 13, accompanied by over a dozen executives from major American companies, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla’s Elon Musk, and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
During his visit, Trump met with Xi Jinping on May 14, where they discussed trade relations, the U.S. stance on Iran, various conflicts, and the situation in Taiwan. Following the meetings, Trump announced that China would be purchasing oil from the United States, a statement that went unaddressed by Chinese officials.
Vladimir Putin's two-day visit to China is set to include discussions with Xi Jinping on international matters and the signing of numerous cooperation agreements. This visit follows Donald Trump's recent trip to China, highlighting ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two nations.
