The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, has raised alarms regarding Russia’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric towards the Baltic nations. This escalation may indicate potential provocations against NATO.
Kovalenko noted that statements from the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service often precede actual actions or provocations from Russia. He emphasized that such declarations are frequently indicative of the Kremlin’s intentions.
The Center for Countering Disinformation has observed a notable increase in hostile rhetoric from Russia directed at the Baltic States. Kovalenko specifically highlighted the heightened risk of drone and hybrid provocations against NATO member countries.
He stated, “Given the rising aggressive sentiments from Russia in the information space regarding the Baltic nations, along with the intentions to carry out drone and hybrid provocations against NATO countries, it can be inferred that Russia may attempt to execute harmful actions.”
