Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has identified his first target for a return to the ring. According to journalist Mike Coppinger on the Inside Ring Show, Lomachenko is eager to engage in high-profile bouts following his career revival.
The former champion is particularly interested in facing current world champion Emmanuel Navarrete, who holds the WBO and IBF titles in the super featherweight division. Navarrete boasts a professional record of 40 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw.
Additionally, Lomachenko has not ruled out a potential match against Gervonta Davis, a former WBA lightweight champion with an undefeated record of 30 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw. However, this matchup would depend on Lomachenko’s success against Navarrete.
Navarrete last fought in late February, defeating Eduardo Nunez by technical knockout in the 11th round to claim the IBF title. The specific weight class for a potential fight between Lomachenko and Navarrete remains uncertain.
As for Davis, negotiations for a bout with Lomachenko took place in late 2024 but ultimately fell through. Lomachenko announced his retirement shortly after due to back issues.
Davis has not fought since a year ago when he faced Lamont Roach Jr., resulting in a draw that allowed him to retain his title at that time. Plans for Davis to fight Jake Paul were later scrapped due to allegations of domestic violence against him.
Vasyl Lomachenko is targeting Emmanuel Navarrete for his comeback fight, with a potential matchup against Gervonta Davis also on the table. Navarrete is the current world champion in the super featherweight division, while Davis remains a prominent figure in boxing despite recent controversies.
