China and U.S. Seek Swift Resolution to Ukraine Conflict, Says Chinese Foreign Minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed that both China and the United States are eager to see a quick resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized that both nations are prepared to play a constructive role in facilitating peace talks.

Wang stated, “Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, both China and the United States hope for a prompt settlement of the conflict and have made significant efforts to advance peace negotiations, each in their own way.” His remarks underline the complexities involved, noting that difficult issues do not have simple solutions, which means that immediate resolutions through peace talks are unlikely.

Despite these challenges, Wang affirmed that both countries are willing to support dialogue and contribute positively to a political resolution of the conflict. He concluded, “Both China and the United States are ready to maintain communication and play a constructive role in resolving the conflict politically.”

This statement follows a meeting on May 14 between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump in Beijing, indicating ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two powers regarding international issues.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reiterated the commitment of both China and the U.S. to work towards a swift resolution of the Ukraine conflict. His comments reflect the complexities of the situation while highlighting the willingness of both nations to engage in constructive dialogue.
