Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that while there were no large-scale Russian attacks on May 10, hostilities continue in frontline areas. In his evening address, he emphasized that the situation remains tense, with Russian forces actively engaging in assaults.
“As of now, there have been no massive attacks today—no missile strikes or air raids. However, in frontline regions and communities near the front, there has been no calm. Russians continue their offensive activities in key directions,” Zelensky remarked.
He reported that between May 9 and 10, Russian troops conducted over 150 assaults, launched more than a hundred shellings, and executed nearly ten thousand drone strikes. “This indicates that the Russian army is not adhering to any ceasefire and is not making any real effort to do so. Our Ukrainian units are responding appropriately and defending our positions as needed,” he added.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine refrained from long-range retaliatory strikes in response to the absence of significant Russian attacks. “Moving forward, we will respond in kind, and if the Russians choose to escalate to full-scale war, our sanctions will be immediate and impactful. The distance is becoming less significant—we have demonstrated our long-range capabilities. Ukraine always acts clearly and honestly in this regard,” he stated.
On May 8, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, set for May 9, 10, and 11, alongside a new prisoner exchange format of 1,000 for 1,000. Zelensky confirmed the ceasefire and the exchange.
President Zelensky confirmed ongoing Russian military activities despite a lack of large-scale attacks on May 10. He highlighted the continued assaults and the strategic responses from Ukrainian forces while addressing the recent announcement of a temporary ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
