Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently held discussions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focusing on defense assistance, energy cooperation, and peace initiatives.
During the meeting, Zelensky emphasized the importance of defense support for Ukraine, particularly contributions to the PURL program and efforts to counteract the Russian shadow fleet. “We in Ukraine appreciate all steps taken by the UK to support our people and weaken the aggressor,” he stated.
Zelensky also briefed Starmer on the current situation at the front lines, including recent Russian strikes on Ukraine. He underscored the need for a coordinated European air defense system, noting, “It is crucial for Europe to coordinate efforts and develop a unified air defense system to protect against threats from Russia.”
The president reiterated Ukraine’s readiness for the next round of trilateral negotiations aimed at achieving a fair and dignified peace. Both leaders acknowledged the UK’s strong position on maintaining pressure on Russia.
