Trump Rejects Iran’s Peace Proposal Amid Ongoing Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s recent peace proposal aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts in the region, labeling it as “unacceptable.” In an interview with Kan News journalist Natan Gutman, Trump expressed his firm stance on the matter.

“I have studied this thoroughly—it’s unacceptable,” Trump stated, emphasizing his concerns over the terms put forth by Tehran. He acknowledged that while Iran is interested in reaching an agreement, the specifics of their proposal do not align with U.S. expectations.

Iran’s latest initiative, which includes a 14-point plan, was reportedly submitted to the United States just a day prior. This proposal primarily focuses on restoring shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and calls for an end to the U.S. naval blockade, while suggesting that nuclear negotiations be postponed for later discussions.

According to CNN, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei revealed that the U.S. has responded to Tehran’s offer through Pakistan, noting that Iran is currently reviewing the reply. He also clarified that the 14-point plan does not address nuclear issues.

“Our plan is solely focused on ending the war and does not include nuclear-related matters. At this stage, we are concentrating on specific measures to halt the conflict in the region, including in Lebanon,” Baghaei added.

Additionally, CNN reported comments from U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff, who indicated that negotiations between the two sides are ongoing.

In a related development, Al Arabiya has learned that Iran has decided to soften some of its previous demands. Sources indicate that Tehran is now willing to discuss its nuclear program with the U.S., proposing to limit uranium enrichment to 3.5% and gradually reduce its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Furthermore, Iran has dropped its earlier insistence that U.S. forces withdraw from the region. Instead, Tehran is seeking to curb the military buildup around its borders and is looking for international guarantees against future aggression.

It remains unclear whether this revised plan has been formally communicated to the U.S.

President Trump has rejected Iran's peace proposal, calling it unacceptable. While Iran has softened some demands, the future of negotiations remains uncertain.
