Fire Breaks Out at Tuapse Oil Refinery Following Drone Attack

A fire erupted at the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region late on April 27, following a drone strike, according to regional emergency services.

The operational headquarters reported that the fire was caused by debris from the drones, but confirmed that there were no reported injuries. A total of 122 personnel and 39 units of equipment were deployed to manage the blaze.

The Telegram channel Astra, which conducted open-source intelligence analysis, also reported the incident, noting that this fire occurred just four days after a significant blaze was extinguished at the marine terminal, following previous attacks.

Residents of Tuapse reported hearing multiple explosions and witnessing the fire at the refinery on the night of April 27.

As of now, there has been no comment from Ukrainian authorities regarding this latest incident. Ukraine previously targeted oil facilities in Tuapse on April 16 and April 20. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the attack on April 20 resulted in the destruction of 24 tanks and damage to four others at the refinery. That incident led to a large fire that lasted several days, releasing combustion products into the air, which local residents described as an ‘oil rain.’ Subsequently, oil products were found in the sea, prompting local authorities to declare an environmental disaster on April 23.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various facilities within Russian territory have been subjected to aerial strikes, with oil refineries being frequent targets in 2024 and 2025. Strikes have also occurred against Russian installations in occupied territories of Ukraine.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed most of these attacks, stating that Ukrainian defense forces are systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat capabilities of Russian occupation forces and compelling Russia to cease its military aggression against Ukraine.

A fire at the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region was reported following a drone strike. This incident follows previous attacks on the facility, raising concerns about ongoing military actions in the area.
