Intense Combat Reported on Ukrainian Frontlines as Russian Forces Suffer Heavy Losses

On April 21, Ukrainian defense forces reported a staggering 231 combat encounters across various frontlines, with Russian troops primarily advancing in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, Huliaipole, and Oleksandrivka sectors. The conflict resulted in the loss of 1,140 Russian soldiers.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a morning update on April 22, detailing the ongoing military activities. Russian forces launched 78 airstrikes, deploying 287 guided bombs, and utilized 7,067 kamikaze drones while conducting 2,810 shellings of populated areas and Ukrainian military positions, including 65 from multiple rocket launch systems.

Airstrikes targeted several locations across Ukraine, including Yastrubshchyna and Pavlivka in Sumy Oblast; Maly Mykhailivka, Kolomyitsi, Hryhorivka, and Novooleksandrivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; and Vozdvizhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Huliaipilske, Dolynka, Polohy, Kopani, Sviatopetrivka, Lisne, Novoselivka, Charivne, Yurkiivka, and Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck seven areas where Russian troops were concentrated, as well as a command post for their drones.

Situation on the Frontlines

In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Russian forces conducted four airstrikes using nine guided bombs, while also firing upon Ukrainian positions and civilian areas 94 times, including three attacks from multiple rocket launch systems.

In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, there were five assaults on Ukrainian positions near Prylipka and towards Bochkove, Okhrimivka, and Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops attacked five times around Novosynove and towards Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, and Hlushkivka.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces made ten attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses, targeting the settlements of Stavky, Drobysheve, Lyman, Dibrivka, Novoserhiyivka, and Zarichne.

Ukrainian forces successfully thwarted two Russian attempts to advance in the Sloviansk direction towards Rai-Oleksandrivka and Riznykivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops launched seven attacks in the areas of Nykyforivka, Holubivka, Bondarnoe, Maiske, Vasyutynske, Udačne, and Markove.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, there were 29 assaults in the vicinity of Pleshchiyivka, Yablunivka, Ivanopillia, and towards Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Sofiivka, Novopavlivka, Kucherovyi Yar, and Stepaniivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian forces halted 51 Russian assault actions aimed at the settlements of Bilytske, Nikonorivka, Rodynske, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udačne, Novomykolaivka, Muravka, Molodetske, Novopidhorodne, Novopavlivka, Vasylivka, and Hryshyne.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces conducted 15 attacks in the areas of Oleksandrihrad, Sichneve, Zlahoda, Andriivka-Klevtsove, and towards Kalynivske.

In the Huliaipole direction, there were 14 attacks in the regions of Zaliznychne, Sviatopetrivka, Hirke, Huliaipilske, Staroukrainka, and Zelene.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled six Russian attempts to advance towards Shcherbakiv, Plavni, Stepnohirske, and Prymorske.

In the Dnipro direction, Russian troops carried out four assaults towards the Antonivskyi Bridge, Bilohrudyi Island, and Kruhlyi Island.

No signs of Russian offensive group formations were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.

Overall, Russian military losses for the day included 1,140 personnel, along with one tank, seven armored combat vehicles, 38 artillery systems, 1,026 drones, and 162 vehicles. Ukrainian defenders continue to effectively counter Russian advances, inflicting significant losses across the front.

The latest reports indicate that intense fighting continues on the Ukrainian frontlines, with Russian forces suffering substantial casualties and losses in equipment. Ukrainian defense forces are actively resisting these assaults, maintaining their positions across multiple sectors.
