Tim Cook Steps Down as Apple CEO, John Ternus to Succeed

Apple has announced that Tim Cook will step down as CEO after 15 years in the role, effective September 1, 2026. John Ternus, currently the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will take over the position.

The decision was unanimously approved by the company’s board of directors. Cook will continue to serve as CEO throughout the summer, working closely with Ternus to ensure a smooth transition.

In his new role as Executive Chairman, Cook will focus on specific areas of the company’s operations, including global political engagement.
