Poland Hosts Specialized Training Courses for Ukrainian Soldiers Under EU Mission

Poland is currently facilitating nine specialized training courses for Ukrainian military personnel, conducted by international instructors from the Combined Arms Training Command (CAT-C). This initiative is part of the European Union’s EUMAM Ukraine mission, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a recent medical training course led by Belgian instructors has just concluded. The training is part of an ongoing collaboration with foreign partners, emphasizing a continuous commitment to military preparedness.

In addition to medical training, courses focused on firearms training are underway. Ukrainian soldiers are practicing various shooting techniques with different types of firearms, including exercises under conditions of limited visibility and while under simulated enemy fire.

Urban warfare tactics are also being taught, where soldiers learn assault strategies for engaging in trench and building operations. This includes clearing buildings, maneuvering in small groups through urban environments, and coordinating fire teams and assault groups in confined spaces.

The General Staff highlighted Poland’s pivotal role as a training hub for the EUMAM Ukraine mission, providing essential support for the Ukrainian military.

The EUMAM Ukraine mission was established in October 2022 to assist in the training of Ukrainian soldiers. Training primarily occurs in Poland and Germany, with a coalition of 32 partner countries contributing to the mission’s efforts.

In November 2024, the European Council extended the mission’s mandate for an additional two years, ensuring its continuation until November 15, 2026.
