Reports from the Ukrainian General Staff indicate a marked increase in ceasefire violations during the Easter period. Between 16:00 on April 11 and the end of the day, there were 1,723 recorded incidents, which included 25 assaults, 365 shellings, 566 strikes by kamikaze drones of the “Lancet” and “Lightning” types, and 767 attacks using FPV drones. Notably, there were no recorded missile strikes, guided aerial bomb usage, or attacks by Shahed drones during this timeframe.
By 07:00 on April 12, the number of violations had escalated to 2,299 incidents. The overnight tally included 28 assaults, 479 shellings, 747 strikes by kamikaze drones, and 1,045 FPV drone attacks. Similar to the previous day, there were no reports of missile or aerial bombardment.
At the beginning of April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a ceasefire during the Easter celebrations. However, there was no official response from the Kremlin at that time. On April 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “Easter ceasefire” intended to be in effect from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of April 12.
The reported ceasefire violations during the Easter period in Ukraine highlight ongoing hostilities despite attempts at a temporary truce. The significant rise in drone and artillery attacks underscores the challenges in achieving lasting peace.
