In the Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomeration, Ukrainian military leaders report ongoing efforts by Russian forces to enhance their tactical positioning. According to General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, the enemy is employing a combination of small infantry group attacks and large-scale drone strikes.
General Syrskyi noted that for nearly a year, units from the 19th Army Corps have successfully repelled attempts by Russian forces to seize Kostyantynivka, maintaining their positions while inflicting significant losses on the adversary. He emphasized that the command staff has demonstrated a high level of adaptability to battlefield changes, making proactive and unconventional decisions.
Priorities for Ukrainian forces include targeting the enemy’s logistical support, neutralizing Russian infantry at the onset of assaults, and preserving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers amid intense combat conditions.
Recently, Dmitro Zaporozhets, a spokesperson for the 11th Army Corps, indicated that Russian command aims to occupy Kostyantynivka by April 25. He explained that the enemy’s flanking maneuvers have thus far been unsuccessful, and ongoing battles within the city are hindering rapid capture efforts.
According to the DeepState map, the majority of Kostyantynivka remains under Ukrainian control, though a ‘grey zone’ persists in the southern part of the city near the road connecting Bakhmut and Pokrovsk.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on April 7 that there were 19 Russian attacks in the Kostyantynivka direction over the previous day.
Ukrainian forces continue to defend Kostyantynivka against Russian attempts to gain control, employing strategic measures to counteract enemy advances. Despite ongoing assaults, the majority of the city remains under Ukrainian control, highlighting the challenges faced by Russian forces in their offensive efforts.
