In a recent military operation, Ukrainian defense forces struck the Sheskharis oil terminal located in the Russian port of Novorossiysk, as well as a Be-12 amphibious aircraft belonging to the Russian military in occupied Crimea. This information was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack on the Sheskharis terminal resulted in confirmed hits and a significant fire on the premises, with further details regarding the impact still being assessed.
Additionally, the Ukrainian forces targeted the Be-12 anti-submarine aircraft in the Kacha region of Crimea, with the extent of the damage also under evaluation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously indicated that long-range strikes on Russian oil infrastructure are contributing to a decrease in revenue for the Russian government.
Zelensky noted that Russia has been benefiting economically from its involvement in conflicts in the Middle East, particularly due to limited easing of American sanctions on Russian oil.
“Russia is receiving additional funds because of this, so yes, they have advantages,” the president stated.
On March 13, the United States issued a 30-day license allowing the purchase of Russian oil and oil products that are currently stranded at sea. The U.S. Department of the Treasury claimed that this move would help stabilize global energy markets.
